The Bitcoin Family Office ("we," "us," or "our") operates thebitcoinfamilyoffice.com and coordinates family office services for Bitcoin holders. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
Summary: We collect only what's necessary to provide the service. We do not sell your data. Financial figures you enter (BTC holdings, asset values) are used solely to calculate your estate tax exposure — they are not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Email address — required for account creation, magic-link authentication, and service communications
- Bitcoin holdings (BTC amount) — used to calculate your estate tax exposure estimate
- Other asset values (USD) — used in estate tax calculation
- State of residence — used to apply applicable state estate tax rules
- Name — optional, used for personalization
Information collected automatically:
- Page views and interaction data — collected via Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Cloudflare Web Analytics. Includes pages visited, time on page, and general geographic region.
- Click and scroll data — collected as custom GA4 events for content optimization. No personally identifiable information is included.
- IP address and browser information — collected by Cloudflare as part of normal web traffic routing and security (DDoS protection, etc.).
2. How We Use Your Information
- To calculate and display your Bitcoin estate tax exposure
- To send daily monitoring alerts when your exposure crosses configured thresholds (Estate Watch subscribers only)
- To send magic-link authentication emails
- To send service-related communications (alerts, summaries, account updates)
- To improve content and tools on the site based on anonymized analytics
- To process billing via Stripe (for paid Estate Watch tiers)
We do not use your financial information (BTC holdings, asset values) for marketing, advertising, or to share with financial institutions, advisors, or data brokers.
3. Calculator and Tool Data
The interactive calculators on this site (estate tax calculator, GRAT optimizer, trust cost estimator, etc.) perform all calculations client-side in your browser. The data you enter into these tools is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly submit a form (such as the Estate Watch signup form).
The Estate Watch signup form transmits your BTC holdings, other assets, state, and email to our Cloudflare Workers API solely for the purpose of calculating your initial exposure snapshot and setting up monitoring. This data is stored in Cloudflare KV (key-value store) associated with your account and is used only to provide the Estate Watch service.
4. Data Storage and Security
- User account data is stored in Cloudflare KV, hosted in Cloudflare's global network
- We use HTTPS for all data transmission
- Authentication uses magic links (no passwords stored) with 15-minute expiry tokens
- Session tokens use secure, HttpOnly cookies
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe — we do not store credit card numbers

We use the following cookies:
- ew_session — Estate Watch session authentication cookie. Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict. Expires when session ends.
- Google Analytics cookies — used by GA4 for anonymized analytics.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels beyond Google Analytics.
7. Data Retention
- Account data is retained as long as your account is active
- If you cancel your Estate Watch subscription, your data is retained for 90 days then deleted
- Magic-link tokens expire after 15 minutes and are automatically deleted
- To request immediate deletion of your account and all associated data, email wyatt@basilic.io

You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — update your account information via the Estate Watch dashboard
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability — request your data in a portable format
- Opt-out — unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time

9. Children
This service is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify Estate Watch subscribers of material changes via email. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent update.
